Gordon "Red" Simmons was working as a disc jockey over CKNX in Wingham, Ontario
around 1953 or so. Before he took on the role of disc jockey, he was
playing guitar with Earl Heywood and the Serenade Ranch Gang. While
with them, he appeared on the CKNX Barn Dance.
He was responsible for six hours of Western entertainment at the station
each week. One show fans were familiar with was his "Red's Record Round-Up".
