About The Group

In a 1949 column, Mary Jean Shurtz was writing that the New England states had some "...top hillbilly talent" and mentioned the Santa Fe Ramblers. Her article is the only mention other than a small bit in a subsequent issue that we've been able to document about this group.

The group did a variety of personal appearances at such venues as town halls, parties, night clubs that were common in those days. During the summer months, they toured and played the various ranches or parks that were a part of the scene back then in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

During those itinerant times, they played at a variety of radio stations in those locales.

Members of the group included Syl, who was their leader and played guitar. Fiddlin' Charlie was a champion fiddler and also a comedian. Chuck played the bass and Blue Eyed Della, was known as the yodeling cowgirl. Their shows included a variety of tunes and were known for their trio and duet numbers.
