About The Group
Chuck and Don were members of the WHO Barn Dance Frolic in the mid to late 1930s and were said to have a tuneful bag of tricks. But behind the dead-pan appearances, audiences found they had some serious musical talent, too. Charles Pray graduated from Iowa State Teachers college and had played in theater orchestras in Des Moines and Minneapolis before becoming a member of the Barn Dance Frolic cast. Don Hovey was from Oskaloosa, Iowa, graduated from the University of Iowa with a major in chemistry. He played the violin, organ, piano, guitar, trumpet and vibra-harp.
