Lem and Martha
WHO Iowa Barn Dance Frolic
WLW Boone County Jamboree
WHO Des Moines, IA (1934)

About The Group

Lem and Martha were a husband and wife team on WHO and appeared regularly on the Iowa Barn Dance Frolic. "Lem" was Tom Lewis in real life, born in Lucas, Iowa. His wife, the former Martha Brown, was from Waldron, Illinois. "Lem" got his start in musical comedy. And coincidentally, his wife had a talent with her voice and piano playing that also led her to musical comedy. They said it was a case of boy meets girl, followed by a whirlwind two week courtship and they became Mr. and Mrs. Lewis.

They spent several years with the RKO folks before coming to WHO in 1934. The audiences loved their "...clever repartee and contagious humor plus their musical versatility."
