Mr. John Orvia "Tennessee Smith" Smith, age 91 of Griffin passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009.

Mr. Smith was born on August 15, 1918 in Oneida, Tennessee to the late John M. Smith and the late Emily Violet Foster Smith. He is preceded in death by wife, Mable Carolyn Lott Smith.

Mr. Smith was a former member of Northside Park Baptist Church in Atlanta. He performed in motion pictures, television, radio programs and made numerous personal appearances.

He was an original member of the Sunshine Boys Quartet, TV Wranglers and was known as "Tennessee Smith".

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Joan Smith; grandchildren, Tammy Cannon, Valerie Hearn, John Mark Smith, Christopher Brian Smith, Amy Carol Smith; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles E. Smith; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend John Nance will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville at 2pm. Friends may visit the family Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 W. McIntosh Rd., Griffin is in charge of arrangements.
