Odell 'Mac' McLeod - Obituary - January 13, 2003

BENTON HARBOR - Odell "Mac" McLeod, 86, of Benton Harbor died Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 2003, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving friends beginning at noon at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Sodus, of which he was a member. Cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Memorial donations may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.

Odell was born May 31, 1916, in Roanoke, Ala., to Mattie and Porter McLeod. He was the owner of Odell's Sign Shop and a life member of Lakeshore Masonic Lodge No. 298. Mac was also a local entertainer known as Mac Odell who wrote songs, had a band known as the Silver Threads and was an entertainer on WLAC for seven years in Nashville. In later years, he played a various local nursing homes.
