Services to remember and celebrate the life of Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Luther will be 10:00 a.m.,
Friday, August 11, 2023 at Strait Gate Church in Claremore. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial
Gardens Cemetery in Claremore. Betty left her temporary earthly home for her permanent heavenly
home on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was 90.
Born in Claremore, OK on January 23, 1933 to Lester W. and Ora Marie (Cline) Watson,
Betty was raised and educated in her birth community and graduated from Claremore High School.
On June 10, 1949 in Sapulpa, OK, Betty married the love of her life and her high school sweetheart, George "GW" Luther.
In fact, her family pointed out he was captain of the high school football team and she was of course a cheerleader
and his biggest fan. Their marriage lasted for almost 70 years before his passing in 2019. They were gifted
with five children, George, Laina, Richard, Steven, and Sheril.
Music was always a very important part of Betty's life. In her younger days she was the booking agent for talent at the
Stardust Casino in Las Vegas and she released a record called "I'm Going Down Wolverton Mountain" while living in Covina, CA.
Betty wrote numerous songs as well and many times would get started on a new song by something a family member or friend said to her.
Betty always had a love for the Lord and His Word and spreading the gospel. Betty and GW started LuBet Publishing Co.
in 1958. It was a world-wide music ministry. In 1970 together they started Circle of Love Foundation in Claremore,
which served numerous world-wide ministries. A lady that had the gift of being not only a giver but an encourager as well. Betty was the go-to
person for family and friends when they needed anything or just a pep talk. She was always there and welcomed them with open arms.
When it came to her family, Betty's smile was always the brightest when they were all together. She thoroughly enjoyed all the holidays and
made sure at Christmas everyone that showed up had a gift. Although she was not known for her cooking skills, according to her family she made
the best cornbread dressing you would ever taste. They then pointed out that their dad would tease their mom by telling her no one can
burn eggs the way that you do.
No story about Betty would be complete unless you mentioned her love of fashion. In fact, her granddaughter said she was
a "fashionista". Always dressed to the nines if you saw her. She liked bright colors and made sure everything not only matched
but that her hair was impeccably styled before she would ever step out of the house.
A lady that has left a huge legacy and faithfully spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. She will be greatly missed by
all who knew her. Betty is survived by her children, George Luther and wife Kathryne, Laina Killian and husband Richard Sterling,
Steven Notz and wife Lori Ann and Sheril Mitchell, grandchildren, Dan Luther and wife Julie, John Luther, Sarah Elizabeth Hughes
and husband James, Richae Morton and husband Jeremy, Misty Luther, Kristi Higginbotham and husband Jack, Elaina Cahill and husband
Chris, Emileigh Luther, and Shian, Shawn and Rakita Garner, 35 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, sisters, Janice
Harbich and Pamela Bogue, daughter-in-law, Danielle Luther and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Betty was
preceded in death by her husband GW, son, Richard Luther, grandson, Richard Olen II, grand-daughters, Kathren Cunningham, Lindsey
