About the Group
About The Group The Texas Dollies were a group of four sisters who were popular on the east coast country music scene back in the 1940s, having started it seems about 1942 or so. In a 1946 letter to the editor, they wrote of their career to date as we step back in time. The gals mentioned they had played vaudeville and town halls through the winter seasons. In the summer months, they would play at the Pine Crest Ranch with George and Dixie who were from WNAC in Boston. In 1946, they were performing with radio station WFCI in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Their shows were also aired over WJAR in Providence, Rhode Island. They mentioned they did a 'complete' show billed as "The Cowboy Cavalcade". They write that they were donating a lot of time to entertaining the military troops in the government hospitals. They said they got to share the stage with such stars as Smiley and Sue, Pappy Howard, The Hoosier Hot Shots, Polly Jenkins, Patsy Montana. Finally, Little Mickey was getting the attention of Hollywood talent scouts back then and were hoping to see something happen. She was even made the official mascot of the Sea Bees in Rhode Island.
