About The Artist Elmer Snodgrass and the Musical Pioneers were starring over WGGA in Gainesville, Georgia back in the mid-1950s. Elmer led the group and handled the emcee chores. This five member group had a broad array of talent it seems. Helen Farmer was the female vocalist who also played guitar. Their fiddle playing was handled by Stanford Lee, a champion fiddler of North Georgia. Chuck Atha was said to sing cowboy vocals and also do impersonations of other hillbilly singers. The group had two shows - one at 1:05pm each day and another on 8:30pm on Saturdays. The second hour of their program was usually devoted to doing gospel numbers, including taking requests from the listening audience. Timeline and Trivia Notes Group Members included:
