About The Artist
Arline Wiltshire joined the Old Dominion Barn Dance that aired over WRVA in Richmond, Virginia in 1946. Arline was a native of Goochland County, Virginia where her family still lived back then. At various times, she also teamed with her brother Bill and her sister Patsy, who were also musicians and singers.
When she graduated from Goochland High School, she joined the Division of Motor Vehicles in Richmond. But, fate stepped in. Her brother got her an audition at WRVA and she later joined the Old Dominion Barn Dance in 1946. She said it didn't take much thought to give up the work she was doing in the office for the chance to do some picking and singing.
