About The Artist If you lived in Southern Louisiana back around early 1953, every morning bright and early at 7:15am, Monday though Friday, you were treated to some real fine, Cajun hillbilly music. The jovial fellow's voice you heard over station KVOL in Lafayette, was none other than Leroy (Happy Fats) Leblanc. The popular Happy Fats started playing Cajun hillbilly music with French accordion bands, which were very popular at that time. In 1935 he organized his own band and soon signed a recording contract with the RCA Victor label. In 1953, he was on the Bella Records label of San Jose, California where he still turned out "many fine waxings" that were done in both French and English. Happy Fats made personal appearances with Tex Ritter, Alan Lane and Hank Williams, and was featured several times on the world famous Louisiana Hayride.
