He was born Jasper LeRoy (Rusty) Barr, Jr. in Salt Lake City to parents Jasper LeRoy and Myla Inga Horsley Barr. He took his talents to the entertainment business. He became a musical entertainer using the stage name of Rusty Diamond. He appeared on the Grand Ole Opry. He shared the stage with such stars as Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and others.
