Mr. William Allen McGee, Jr. "CuB" age 83, of 1309 E. Mountain Street, Kernersville, NC passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born on May 7, 1926 in Guilford County at the Oak Ridge Mill to the late William A. McGee, Sr. and Mary Jane Fulp McGee.

Cub was a professional fiddler for over 30 years. He performed with Clyde Moody and Mac Wiseman. A family member informed Hillbilly-Music.com that Cub also worked with the Blue Star Boys and Smilin' Jim Eanes and the Shenandoah Valley Boys.

William was of the Baptist Faith He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy Layne McGee; one son, Randy McGee and wife Kathlyne of Maryville, TN; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Angela McGee; one sister, Irene Collins of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and five sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff on the 6th floor at Forsyth Medical Center for their compassion and care towards Cub and family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church, c/o James Joyce 2097 Brown Mountain Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.

Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain (www.coxneedham.com) assisted the McGee family.
