Hurricane Katrina Survivors Get ‘Special Delivery’ From Country Music Hall of Fame Member

(NASHVILLE, TN) – Country Music Hall of Fame Member, all-time Top 20 best-selling country artist, and Mississippi native CHARLEY PRIDE and his wife, Rozene, were so devastated to see fellow Mississippi families suffer from Hurricane Katrina that they decided to directly help 40 families by purchasing living necessities for the families that were relocated to the place they now call home, Dallas, Texas.

In addition to purchasing 30 box-springs, 30 mattresses, 60 pillows, 30 sets of sheets, towels, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, and so much more, Charley and his wife also decided to take up donations at concerts to help additional families. In Helena, Montana, this past weekend Pride raised over $3200 in donations.

This Mississippi native feels that “if everyone would do just a little bit to help these families…not as one political group, or one race, or one community, but as Americans, then I know we could make this tragedy much less difficult for everyone!” says Charley Pride.

Charley and his wife are encouraging everyone to do their part. “I know we can give a little more than others because the Lord has been so good to us, but that’s just as much of a reminder of what to do in times like these…even if all you have to offer is you,” says Rozene Pride.

Over the past thirty years, Pride’s legacy includes 36 #1 hit singles, over 70 million albums sold—31 Gold and 4 Platinum, including one quadruple platinum—second in sales on RCA Records only to Elvis Presley. His hits include “All I Have to Offer You (Is Me),” “Kiss An Angel Good Morning,” Is Anybody Goin’ To San Antone” and “Comfort of her Wings” on Music City Records, Pride’s current record label.
