About the Group About The Group A 1954 magazine article touts the group as a "ripsnortin', music-makin' bunch of guys" that was known as Bob Boyd and his Red River Playboys. Bob and his band were entertaining listeners over CJOB out of Winnipeg, Manitoba up north. They were doing two shows a week in 1954. One was on Friday evenings from 8:30 to 9:00pm. The other show was on Saturday evening from 8:05pm to 8:30pm. The band was also featured over the CBC network the previous winter. We read in a 1957 article that the group perhaps was just starting about then and originally included Pat Boyd. By 1957, the band was also down to just four members and appears to include Bob Boyd's wife, Doreen to go along with Bob Tillson and Rusty Shore. The group was doing personal appearances at such venues as Patterson's Ranch House and the Frontenas Hotel in Winnipeg.
