About the Group About The Group Around 1945, this combination of musicians appeared on WLS and the National Barn Dance. Comedy seemed to work its way into some of the groups at the time. This one was no exception. The Dixie Dandies were said to all be "highly skilled" musicians that got together on Saturday nights to play the songs of the day in "their own ridiculous way".
