About the Group
About The Group The Hannemann Sisters were natives of Pennsylvania. Wanda Hannemann was the youngest of the family of 11 children and was born in Helvetia, Pennsylvania in 1928. Jean Hannemann was born in Delancey Pennsylvania in 1927. Both of the girls graduated from Big Run High School; Jean in 1945, Wanda in 1946. We learn from an article about the girls written by Elaine Baird in a 1951 edition of the Andy Reynolds and the 101 Ranch Boys fan club newsletter that Wanda started playing the guitar when she was 13 years old. In 1951, they were living in Niagara Falls, New York, both emplyed at the Carborundum Company. Their personal appearances as you might expect took them all around upstate New York and into Canada. They appeared regularly on the WJJL Jamboree that was hosted by Ramblin' Lou (Shriver) along with the Twin Pine Mountaineers. Ms. Baird noted that "...Wanda and Jean have a sweet tone of singing that goes along with their wonderful personality." Credits & Sources
