About The Group
The Lucky Penney Trio were appearing over KMOX in St. Louis, Missouri back in 1952, being featured quite often with Skeets Yancey and the gang there. The group was headed by Penny West, who played the bass. Occasionally, they'd also have Ray Periandri helping out with the accordion. Billy Keith was known to do guitar duets with Wally Proctor of Skeets Yancey's gang. Hillbilly music fans will know that Penny West was also part of the Blackhawk Valley Boys, a group that played on the old WOWO Hoosier Hop and the WLS National Barn Dance.
