The Ernie Hartley Family Band was indeed a family band in every sense of the word. Our research uncovered an article in Cowboy Songs of July 1953. Ernie Hartley was the father and leader of the band. At the time, they were being heard over WGRO in Bay City, Michigan

  • Ernest Hartley, Jr. - steel guitar; Spanish guitar (B: August 27, 1934 — D: January 26, 2006)
  • Bernard Hartley - fiddle, bass fiddle (B: 1936-1937)
  • Bruce Hartley - lead guitar (B: August 10, 1939 — October 24, 2018)
  • Judy Hartley - vocals; tap dance; acrobatics (B: September 27, 1942 — October 22, 2011)
