About The Group

Drake Walsh and Dean Walsh, born in Ferguson, North Carolina, performed as the Walsh Brothers. They came from a bit of a musical family. Their father was Dock Walsh, who was said to be the banjo king of the Carolinas, recording for the Victor and Columbia record labels.

The Walsh Brothers recorded a tune for Sky-Way Records. AT the time, Drake was 23 years old and Dean 20.

A 1953 article mentions that Dean was known as the "Voice of Carolina" because of "...his soft and smooth singing style."

They started on radio over WILK in Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania, later moving to WKBC in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Around that time, both were inducted to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.
