Spencer Family

About The Group

The name may sound familiar. And if we tell you one of the members of this group was Tim Spencer you might remember more.

The Spencer Family, performing around 1957 or so we find, Cowboy Song magazine indicates they had recorded an album for Sacred Records called "Sunday On The Range With The Spencer Family". The Spencer Family's library of hits included songs such as "Room Full of Roses", "Roses", "Love At The County Fair", "Wedding Dolls (From Your Wedding Cake)", "Careless Kisses", and currently (or rather, when they wrote the article) "What This Country Needs (Is A Good Old Fashioned Talk With The Lord)". All those hits were said to have been on major record labels.

Tim Spencer, you might now remember him as one of the Sons of the Pioneers, was active in religious work and travelled over 100,000 miles one year to play at various "Youth For Christ" meetings and other evangelistic campaigns. He was also one of the organizers of the Hollywood Christian Group, whose members included many in the film industry who had taken a stand for the Christian way of life.
