About The Disc Jockey / Emcee Stan Widney was the stage manager of the WHO Barn Dance Frolic at one time. He was said to be one of the busiest men in Des Moines, Iowa every Saturday. In addition to rehearsal duties every week, he was also the emcee for one complete 'unit' of the show. His theatrical career began at the age of 19. He made is radio debut in 1927 over radio station WKY in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He joined the WHO staff in 1933. They wrote in an old WHO Barn Dance Frolic souvenir program that he had an infectious laugh that made "The Old Salt" popular with the fans of the show.
