About The Artist

Robert K. Oermann's career that he is known for began when he was working at his grandmother's music store - Lowe's House of Music in DuBois, PA. He helped at the cash register and was paid in 45rpm records. He became a lifelong collector and is known to have one of the largest private record collections. A 2018 feature article written by Juli Thanki in The Tennessean indicated he had over 300,000 records in his collection.

He wrote the book "Finding Her Voice" in 1993 with his wife, Mary Bufwack about women in country music that also resulted in a CBS television special.

He moved to Nashville in 1978 at the age of 30, he made the decision to move to Nashville. Up to that point he had been a painter and a steel mill worker. But gradually he found himself immersed into Music City happenings and events.

He got a job as a reference librarian at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. He met many writers and researchers and when he saw what they wrote, he told himself, "I could do that." From there he started writing for various publications. Because a music reporter for The Tennessean and also in USA Today.
