About The Artist

Jeanie Pierson was born in White Cloud, Kansas, the tenth child in a family of eleven siblings. Most of her family had musical interests which saw three sisters and two of her brothers enter the music business.

Her first radio appearance was with her brothers over WABI in Bangor, Maine.

After she graduated from high school, she decided to embark on her own career in music and got herself a position on KMA out in Shenandoah, Iowa. While at KMA, she met her future husband, Mack Sanders, also an enterainer at the time on KMA.

The spring of 1946 saw her at WSGN in BIrmingham, Alabama.

But in 1948, the family was back at KMA and found herself there when television went on the air.

In April of 1951, Mack and Jeannie moved to Wichita, Kansas where they had a daily showover KFBI and were also doing a weekly television show over KTVH in Hutchinson, Kansas.

A 1954 article indicated that Webb Pierce had heard her singing and yodeling and before long, she had a recording contract with Decca records. Her first release was talked up as a two-sided hit - "Run'em Off" b/w "Yes, It's Been So Long."
