About The Artist Gracie Powell was a Canadian Western singer, sometimes billed as the "Brown-eyed mountain gal". Gracie was from Grimsby, Ontario. They wrote in 1954 that she had been in music for nearly 12 years, since she was 14 years old. She sang and played the guitar. Her favorite tunes back in 1954 even though she claimed to have a repertoire of nearly 500 songs, were "Little Buddy" and "Knothole". She also did duty as a disc jockey and had two 15-minute shows over radio station CKTB out of St. Catherines, Ontario, being one of the few female disc jockeys in Canada at the time. She got her first big break from Abbie Andrews and his Canadian Ranch Boys, of which she was a member. She was married to Arthur Powell. Credits & Sources
