About The Artist

Brownie and Slim Carter were on WKST in New Castle, Pennsylvania at one point and were pretty busy entertaining folks. In their song folio published back then, they mentioned that the songs were related to such shows as The Home Folks Radio Show and Jamboree and on WKST. Since they mentioned the folio was published in the war times, we're guessing this was around the early mid-1940's.

They mentioned that they had to close their Jamboree due to war time conditions. Many of the smaller jamboree-type shows probably struggled during the war times due to gas rationing and thus, the fans didn't get out to see them as much. Their jamboree had such acts as Lulu Belle and Scotty, Smiley Burnette, The Hoosier Hot Shots, Delmore Brothers, Hugh Cross, Grandpa Jones, Lew Childre, Curley Miller and mentioned that Roy Acuff would appear sometime in the future. They wanted to reopen their jamboree when circumstances allowed them to.
