About The Artist One of the earliest stars of WSM's Grand Ole Opry and billed as "One of the outstanding features" on what they were calling this "Old-Time Show" even back in the 1930s when the Opry wasn't even a decade old, perhaps reflecting on the tenor of the show. Music was a hobby to Dr. Humphrey Bate; he was really a bonafide physician and a graduate of Vanderbilt University. They said that "Old time tunes rendered by this team are really something to listen to. We'll vouch that they'll cure some of your ills." Credits & Sources
