About The Artist

According to a newspaper article in 1976, Maggie and Scottie Swan started the Chippewa Valley Barn Dance in 1948. The program aired over radio station WEAU out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, 790 on the AM band.

The duo had a bit of popularity in the Eau Claire area. About 1954, we find another mention of them in a national publication. THey were still at WEAU and had enjoyed a typical summer of personal appearances at venues such as festivals, fairs and celebrations over a four state area.

The article mentioned they had finished a six-month transcription series for the American Dairy Association. In 1954, they signed a contract with Doughboy Mills of Minneapolis, Minnesota to do over 70 personal appearances in the coming year.

Maggie and Scotty (or as seen on the postcard, Scottie) Swan owned, managed and booked their show. Other members of the group in 1954 are listed below.
