We learned of Uncle Oscar and his Florida Ridge Runners when a young 15-year old singer named C. L. Barfield wrote a letter to the editor in 1946. The group was a part of the "Saturday Night Jamboree" that aired over radio station WAGF out of Dothan, Alabama.
