About The Artist Yodeling Joe was the name country music fans came to know him by, but he was born Sterling Lambert near a town called Seneca Rocks in Pendletown Country, West Virginia. We read in one article that he was about five foot nine and weighing in at 185 pounds back then. Along about 1945 or so, Buddy Starcher mentions that Yodeling Joe was part of the early morning entertainment group heard over WMMN. We read in Mary Jean Shurtz's column in a 1946 issue of Mountain Braodcast and Prairie Recorder of the birth of a son on March 31, 1946. His wife was the former Eloise Rutherford. The son was named Danny Ray. Along about 1946, Yodeling Joe was reported to be working with the Stoney and Wilma Lee Cooper clan. Credits and Sources
