Jack Perry Brown County Jamboree Hayloft Frolic

About The Artist According to Uncle Bob Hardy, the Hayloft Frolic was fortunate to have the five-string banjo pickin' of one Jack Perry from Columbus, Indiana. Jack gave the group a chance to expose audiences to the Bluegrass side of Country Music on the Frolic's TV show as well as on personal appearances over Southern Indiana and Eastern Illinois. Floy Case wrote of a Jack Perry that was working over radio station WBAP with the Light Crust Doughboys and was the emcee for the show, but appears to have been a name that Slim Cox used - and he was once part of the Flying X Cowboys group. We don't know if this is the same Jack Perry that appeared with Uncle Bob's troupe. Later, Jack enjoyed a stint on the Grand Ole Opry with his idol Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass. He also was a talented song writer and guitarist. We found mention of the tune "Sure-Fire Kisses" that lists Jack as co-writer along with George Mysels, Michael Phillips and Harry Sims back in 1955. In 1957, while serving in the USAFin the Far East, Jack obtained a leave and toured with his Hayloft Frolic over Japan and Korea. Now, Jack's banjo and guitar are silent...and we have only pleasent memories.
