In 1953, Marge "Shamrock" Shannon as they called her, was working
in Huntington, West Virginia. At that time, she was the only
female emcee and band leader in that area. She fronted a group
called the Starlight Ranch Gang and were at WHTN, then known
as the "Good Neighbor Station" in Huntington.
Marge was inspired to be a singer they wrote when she saw Louise
Massey in a western movie. She found an old guitar and started
playing with local bands over stations such as WSAZ and WCMI.
They mentioned she was ill for a time, but came back and was
at WPLH for six months before her stint at WHTN.
