About The Artist

Jack Gray was a native of Boonville, Mississippi and graduated from high school in Throsher, Mississippi. His first radio stint was at WCOC in Meridian, Mississippi. Later on he performed on stations such as WCMA in Corinth, MS; WLAY, Muscle Shoals, AL; WMFT and WJOI out of Florence, AL.

Along about 1949, Jack packed up and moved to Ft. Worth in Texas. From that time, to about 1955, he was appearing on the "Friday Night Frolic" which was broadcast by KXOL from the Will Rogers Auditorium and tape-recorded for XEG.

Around 1955, he was playing the "Cow Town Roundup" that aired from 5:00 to 5:30am every Saturday morning over KWBC.

During the summer months, he would perform on the "Cow Town Roundup" show that was put on every Friday night in Sycamore Park. The winter would find him playing at the Fort Worth Recreation Hall.
