About The Artist

Grace was a long time solo artist on WLS. She actually sang on the first WLS program back in 1924. Radio station promo announcements would often call her the '...girl with a million friends.' That phrase actually originated a number of years earlier from her days of appearing on Broadway.

Had a knack of making friends and connecting with the audience so that they'd never forget her. Secret? Not really, just being friendly, genuine and sincere.

The WLS Family Album of 1934 described her singing as "...she just walks right into your home and into your heart."

Once dubbed the "Bringin' Home the Bacon Girl" as she once did a song by that same name and it got her a lot of requests to do it again and it became one of her most popular numbers.
