About The Group

This group started off as the Cross Road Gang and later became the Pine Mountain Boys and were popular over the legendary radio station WLW out of Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Cross Road Gang first gained notice when they were on WFBC in Greenville, South Carolina then took to the road.

After a few stints at other radio stations (no others were mentioned), they said Slim, Jay, Freddie and Smokey got comfortable with the reception they received by the fans when they started at WLW about 1950.
