Windy and his Maryland Yodelers

About The Artist We might call this group the group with no last names or at least so far. But Windy and his Maryland Yodelers had been entertaining folks along the Eastern shores of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. World War II caused the band to break up a bit, but Windy could never quite get the music out of his system, so he got together a bigger and better group. In 1955, you could hear them over WBOC in Salisbury, Maryland every Saturday from 5:00 to 5:30pm and they had been doing that show for a couple years then. We can tell you a little that they wrote about this group as we try to find out who they are. Hank played the steel guitar and was said to be from North Carolina. Sleepy was the fiddle player and was from Virginia. Shorty was the banjo player. Bessie was the female lead singer. And they had another female singer, the youngest member of the group, called Little Shirley.
